Welcome! So nice to see you :)

Hello and welcome to the blog what now?, my name is Shannon and I will be your writer today. This blog aims to create a place of safety for young adults and encourages open conversations on mental illness. Striving with authenticity the aim is to discuss the difficulties of being a young adult. Whether you are a student, worker, or simply just a young person, everyone is welcome.

A little bit about me. I am currently in my second year of University studying Law and Journalism, I work as a barista, and I adore my dogs. Another fact is that when I was 16-years-old I was diagnosed with generalised anxiety and depression, and I have been dealing with it ever since.

Around 26% of Australian have experienced an anxiety disorder. With a further 1 in 7 people experiencing  depression at one period of their lives[1].

While statistics can be comforting, it’s important to understand no one is alone in the journey of mental illness. I hope that this blog can help bring a sense of peace and ease mental uncertainty. Thank you for coming on this healing journey with me.
